Monash University Central Precinct Revitalisation

Introduction
Addressing a need to improve the Central Precinct landscapes of Monash University, and transforming decades of piecemeal additions and interventions into a more coherent sequence of outdoor spaces, the design competition seeks to deliver two related but distinct outcomes.
The winner of this competition is Taylor Cullity Lethlean with Peter Elliott Architecture and Urban Design. Their proposal explores how the new campus landscape could be strategically arranged to offer benefits in circulation and user interaction. Generous walkways and seating areas sit within a native landscape, with a linear pond connecting the scheme. The scheme enables opportunities for public art and collaborative ventures, facilitating informal learning, recreation and passive use, manifested by an evolving, technology-enabled campus community.
