Brisbane Airport Masterplan
Stage
CURRENT
COMPLETE
Introduction
The redevelopment of the Brisbane Airport through the creation of a masterplan is underscored by an opportunity to better connect the airport with the city through design-led innovation.
Through the delivery of a masterplan for the airport and its precincts, the Competition assists Brisbane Airport Corporation in determining the future development of its land, and includes an eco-lodge that combines architectural excellence with sustainable outcomes. The winner of this competition is Grimshaw Architects in collaboration with AECOM. Their proposal presents an innovative urban and architectural vision for the airport that is consistent with the airport’s development goals to 2029. The scheme balances commercial opportunity, flexible planning and a high-quality public domain, presenting a creative approach to natural systems and its rethinking of the connections between energy consumption, production and waste management.
