Introduction
Nightingale Housing invited eligible parties to participate in the Ngarrga Terragulk Expression of Interest.
Nightingale Ngarrga Terragulk is the newest addition to Nightingale Housing’s developments. CityLab developed and delivered the EOI process for Nightingale Housing, who were seeking a multidisciplinary design team to deliver four multi-residential buildings, and one mixed-use building, comprising both dwellings and commercial uses.
A critical factor in the success of the project was to achieve a single integrated housing development that is expressed through a diversity of design expressions and architectural hands.
The winning teams Neeson Murcutt and Neille, Kennedy Nolan, Wowowa, Hayball, and Lian have each designed separate eight-story buildings for the new building complex proposed for 17–19 Hope Street in Brunswick.
The precinct has been given a Woi Wurrung name meaning ‘dancing branches’ and includes generous private and public greenery. A new community park will run between the buildings and the train line. Residents will have access to a shared backyard space at the rear of the development, and a landscaped internal courtyard runs through the core of four adjoining buildings.
